Bartell Drugs, the oldest family owned drugstore chain in the nation, has teamed up with Mercy Corps to sell the specially created - What Happened to the World? Helping children cope in turbulent times - booklet in all of its Washington state stores.

Developed as part of Mercy Corps' Comfort for Kids program response to the Sept. 11 tragedy, the booklet is designed for parents, teachers, and everyone working with children and families trying to make sense of a world where the sky can fall, thousands die, war is proclaimed, and our sense of safety and security disappears in a day.

The booklet contains sections for parents of children of all ages - ranging from infants to teenagers - and offers practical advice in identifying child trauma, as well as ways in which we can teach our children the value of tolerance.

Bartell Drugs customers can purchase the booklet for a voluntary donations of $5. Each booklet purchased will also result in a donation of 5 booklets to be distributed in New York to parents and caregivers helping to provide trauma counseling for children. To find the Bartell Drugs location nearest to you, please visit www.bartelldrugs.com.

Copies of the booklet can also be purchased directly through Mercy Corps. To order a copy, send a check ($10 including shipping/handling) to Mercy Corps, Book Fulfillment, 3015 SW First Avenue, Portland, OR 97201. Books may also be ordered by phone at 1-800-292-3355 x250.
