GENEVA - A contribution of $38,900 by Cargill to Mercy Corps International will be used to repair schools and offer health training to students in the Namangan region of Uzbekistan.

"Currently students are attending dilapidated schools with poor sanitary conditions, no clean drinking water and often no heat," said Francois Rogivue, marine insurance assistant at Cargill Geneva. "We are proud to make this contribution to Mercy Corps, which will improve health and safety for these children."

Cargill Geneva's $19,450 contribution was matched by the Cargill Partnership Fund, which is a corporate program that encourages Cargill facilities to support special projects and services in their communities.

Cargill has been active in multiple projects in Uzbekistan this year, including supporting another Mercy Corps International program that offers short-term loans to women in agriculture-related businesses.

Cargill is an international marketer, processor and distributor of agricultural, food, financial, and industrial products and services with some 85,000 employees in 60 countries.
