Hundreds of messages received from around the world.

Unprecedented numbers of visitors have visited the Mercy Corps website, www.mercycorps.org, this week as hundreds of thousands of people from across America and from all corners of the world have come together to seek resource help and express their grief over the recent American tragedy.

Mercy Corps responded immediately to Tuesday's devastating events, revamping its website to serve as a resource tool for people around the world. The site offers detailed information on counseling services, ways to help, disaster information and guidance for helping children cope -- as well as a special condolence section where visitors can leave their own expressions of grief and solidarity.

"The response has been simply awesome," said Jacob Colie, Mercy Corps' Webmaster. "We set up the site to provide a resource for those who need help and for those who feel compelled to help. To have outreach at this level is tremendous."

Messages of compassion, sympathy, and tolerance from people and organizations in over 40 countries have been received and posted on the Mercy Corps site. Mercy Corps has also received hundreds of donations to support the relief effort. Voices ranging from young to old have come together to express their sympathy and support for the American people. Here are some excerpts:

Nigeria

My name is Omoruyi , I stay in Lagos, Nigeria.

This is a sad episode in our lifes and it is really really bad that people could be this heartless.

It is really sad, the families that have lost loved ones, I pray that the Almighty will console them.

Northern Ireland

I hope for a future where my daughter, Rebecca, might be free of such hatred. Rebecca's last words to me as she settled in bed last night were-"I know how a bad man could get a gun on a plane, he could sit on it and no one would see it under his bum." At five-years-old she too is trying to make sense of, order, Tuesday's events. Our thoughts, sympathy and best wishes are for all those affected by this tragedy. Our admiration goes to all those involved in helping them.

Tajikistan

We would like to express our deepest condolences to all people of America over the tragic death of thousands of innocent people.

We feel deeply indignant, from the depth of our souls, due to the unprecedented terror perpetrated on peaceful citizens. This fact should not leave anybody indifferent.

We feel solidarity with you, and are deeply grieving together with all of you.

The Staff of the National Association of Business Women of Tajikistan.
