Statement on Tuesday's Tragedy in the US

Mercy Corps International
Tuesday, 11 September 2001

Mercy Corps is saddened and outraged by the cowardly acts of terrorism that have been perpetrated in the United States today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Terrorism anywhere in the world primarily affects the innocent, and we have seen the horrific results of this today.

Our purpose is to reduce suffering, aid those in need, and expand global understanding. Today's events remind us of the vital nature of this work, and call us to renew our commitment to building a world where peace, hope and opportunity triumph over hatred, bloodshed and despair.

Mercy Corps is taking precautions to ensure the safety of our staff around the world.

To assist survivors and families of the victims, Mercy Corps is accepting donations and will share any funds raised with partner agencies directly responding to this tragedy.
