MCC Bolivia is Forty

SANTA CRUZ, Boliva -- More than 500 visitors attended the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Bolivia 40th anniversary celebration here June 16. The event, held at the MCC center in Santa Cruz, included expositions and presentations of current MCC programs and a commemoration service.

MCC Bolivia currently has more than 65 workers representing 10 countries working with Colony Mennonites; popular education libraries; income generation; children working in the streets; dry latrines, water technology and other appropriate technology; animal traction with the Guarani people; and rural community accompaniment. More than half the MCC Bolivia team is from Bolivia.

MCC's accountant, Tito Castro of Santa Cruz, will be recognized for 20 years of service. Several other local workers and international MCC volunteers, including Néster Pérez, Raquel Flores, Deni Aguilera, Juan Pereira, Hugo Osinaga, Regina Claudio, Frieda Schellenberg, Erb and Doug Zehr, will be honored for at least ten years of service with MCC Bolivia.
