Breast Cancer Program Expands in Long Island

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lisa Sclafani as a full time breast surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering (MSK) at Hauppauge, along with the addition of new mammography screening services.

Dr. Lisa Michelle Sclafani is a distinguished and respected breast surgeon who brings a wealth of clinical expertise to the MSK at Hauppauge. She was most recently an Attending Surgeon at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola and was on the attending staff at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. Prior to these appointments Dr. Sclafani held several different positions within Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center which included Director of the Special Surveillance Breast Program and Assistant Attending surgeon in the Breast Service Department.

Dr. Sclafani received her M.D. degree in 1982 at New York University School of Medicine and completed her surgical residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Montefiore Medical Center. She did her surgical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Sclafani is actively involved with the American Cancer Society, Long Island Division, having served on the Board of Directors, and as a breast cancer spokesperson, and volunteer.

In addition, mammography screening services are now available to provide comprehensive breast services to women in the Hauppauge community. Mammography screening is provided by appointment and in most cases patients are able to receive an appointment within one week.
