In the magazine's annual investment issue over 100 organizations were evaluated on the basis of efficiency and need. Ratings reflect each charity's standing in the areas of "charitable commitment, fundraising efficiency, and donor dependency." MAP International scored among the top seven charities listed for their 99% "charitable commitment." This rating reflects the revenue used for charitable purposes. The "fundraising efficiency" rating of 99% measures the revenue raised from private sources remaining after expenditures for fundraising. "We are honored to be ranked highly again by Forbes magazine in its list of top performing charities," states Michael Nyenhuis, MAP's president. The final rating of 98% for "donor dependency" reflects MAP's dependence on the generosity of the public to carry out its mission of providing total health to people living in the world's poorest communities. "We take the stewardship of our resources and effectiveness of our programs very seriously," states Nyenhuis. "Our supporters expect us to handle the resources they entrust to us wisely. We are grateful that an independent review by Forbes confirms our commitment to efficiency."
