www.americanhumane.org Provides Detailed Information On Protecting Children and Animals

The American Humane Association (AHA), the national leader in child protection and animal welfare issues, unveiled its new website today at www.americanhumane.org. The new site includes valuable information about AHA's work across the country, as well as educational and interactive features on children and animals.

"We're very excited about the new AHA website," said Tim O'Brien, AHA's President. "As the only national organization that works to ensure children and animals are safe from abuse and cruelty, it is vital that we use the internet to educate and inform people about what it truly means to be a humane individual, and to live in a humane community. AHA has been the bedrock of child and animal protection in America for 122 years and I am confident our mission will inspire even more people through this new website."

The new website is designed for the general public, as well as child protection and animal welfare professionals. www.americanhumane.org contains useful information on issues such as:

- identifying and preventing child abuse;
- the link between animal abuse and violence towards people;
- AHA's extensive animal rescue operations during natural disasters;
- AHA's national programs and promotions;
- up-to-date information on what national and state policy makers are doing to help children and animals;
- vast resources for professionals, including information on AHA's training, workshops and roundtables, as well as the organization's many publications;
- links to AHA's Film and Television Unit, which works in Hollywood to ensure animals are not harmed in movie and TV productions;
- and, AHA's policy statements on a broad number of topics.

"Whether you work in an animal shelter, a child protection agency, or are concerned about making a difference in your community, www.americanhumane.org is the website for you. It will help you make a difference in lives of America's children and animals," O'Brien concluded.
