The Charles Schwab Corporation Unites With Make-A-Wish Foundation®

Phoenix — (September 15, 2000) — In celebration of passing the $1 trillion mark in client assets, The Charles Schwab Corporation has joined forces with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help make wishes come true for 110 children with life-threatening illnesses. Through a generous grant made possible by The Charles Schwab Corporation Foundation, two Make-A-Wish kids from each of the 50 states — along with two children in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Hong Kong and Japan — will experience their one greatest wish.

"The Make-A-Wish Foundation is committed to making sure that every child with a life-threatening illness has an incredible wish experience that provides hope, strength and joy," said Paula Van Ness, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. "We look forward to a prosperous relationship to benefit the precious children we serve."

The financial services company's commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation goes well beyond a financial contribution. Schwab intends to initiate a company-wide campaign to involve more than 24,000 employees in the Foundation's wish-granting programs. Schwab employees will be encouraged to serve as volunteers in their local communities, connecting on an individual level with the Make-A-Wish children. The Charles Schwab/Make-A-Wish relationship will be launched with a celebration, taking place on October 4 in ten major cities across the United States.
