May 8, 2001 – New York, NY – Jewish National Fund (JNF) will be hosting a Tree of Life™ Award Dinner honoring N. Richard Kalikow, Chairman of Max Capital Management Corp, one of the largest privately held real estate investment firms in New York. The black tie cocktail reception will be held at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City on Thursday, May 31st at 6:00pm followed by dinner at 7:30pm. The Tree of Life Award is a humanitarian award given by JNF to honor individuals who demonstrate outstanding community involvement, dedication to community service and devotion to peace and the security of human life. The Tree of Life Award recognizes leaders for their accomplishments and achievements in industry, government and education. Past recipients of the Tree of Life Award include Stephen M. Ross, Ted Turner and Donald Trump.

"JNF is proud to honor these extraordinary individuals who are lifelong leaders and role models in the community," says Rita H. Salfeld, president, JNF Greater New York Zone. Beyond his commitment to JNF, N. Kalikow is an active member of the real estate community and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Rent Stabilization Association, Director of the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York, and as a member of the Real Estate Board of New York. He is active in many charities including U.J.A. Federation, Central Synagogue, Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital, New York Hospital, American Health Foundation (cancer prevention), and Georgia Tech Alumni Association, to name a few.

"In addition to coming together to honor N. Kalikow, we hope the Tree of Life Award Dinner will raise the much needed funds to assist with the water crisis in Israel," says Ronald S. Lauder, president of JNF. "With the help of loyal supporters, JNF has been able to increase Israel's water supply by 6 percent, but so much more remains to be done," adds Lauder.

Israel is currently suffering from its worst drought in recorded history. JNF has been actively involved in combating the crisis by building dams and reservoirs, rehabilitating Israel's polluted waterways, implementing new water recycling techniques and funding crucial research that will enable Israel to make the most of its limited water supply until permanent solutions can be reached.

The dinner co-chairs of the dinner are Adam Hochfelder of Max Capital Management Corp. and Peter S. Kalikow of J.J. Kalikow & Co.

Proceeds from the Tree of Life Award Dinner will benefit JNF's ongoing efforts and dedication to environmental improvements in the land of Israel, particularly JNF's large-scale commitment to resolving Israel's growing water crisis. Ticket prices range from $1,000 per individual to a $25,000 host table.
