U.S. Ambassador Honored by Jewish National Fund for His Work on Behalf of IsraelJewish National Fund April, 2001 – The Honorable Martin S. Indyk, United States Ambassador to Israel, recently toured JNF sites in the Negev Desert as part of a communications and fundraising effort for the organization. During the Ambassador's visit to Beer-Sheva and Golda Park near Kibbutz Revivim, he was presented with a certificate honoring him with an inscription in JNF's Golden Book, which has been kept for all 100 years of JNF's history. JNF-KKL Director General Itzhak Elyashive presented Ambassador Indyk with the certificate, honoring him for his work in Israel and his long tenure. Ambassador Indyk graciously accepted the certificate and commended JNF for the organization's work in the Negev. "I visited JNF sites here in the Negev several years ago and am happy to witness the enormous progress made, especially when I see flowering citrus and olive groves growing near reservoirs built by you. America is proud to be a partner in these efforts," said Ambassador Indyk. Ambassador Indyk concluded his remarks with the hope that the peace process will regain momentum, and that JNF activities will contribute to the prosperity of the region as a whole.
