April 20, 2001 – New York, NY – Jewish National Fund (JNF) announced the appointment of Daniel B. Shure of Chicago, Illinois as the new president of JNF's Chicago Region.

As the new president of the Chicago region, Mr. Shure will focus much of his energies on JNF's major efforts regarding Israel's continuing water crisis. He plans on organizing fundraising initiatives to contribute to JNF's programs such as reservoir development, water recycling and riverbed restoration to ensure that Israel is never depleted of this important natural resource.

"We are thrilled that Daniel B. Shure will be at the helm of the Chicago region," said Mickey Kesselman, JNF Chicago regional director, "Dan brings fresh ideas and a wealth of enthusiasm as we move in a more vigorous direction of community awareness and fundraising."

Mr. Shure attributes his involvement with JNF to his many travels to Israel which ignited his passion for the land. "I care deeply for the land of Israel and through JNF hope to preserve and conserve its natural resources, particularly water, for generations to come," said Shure.

This appointment marks Mr. Shure's first lay leadership role with JNF. His other Jewish community involvement includes serving on the boards of the Jewish United Fund-Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, the America-Israel Chamber of Commerce of Chicago and the Board of Hillels of Illinois.

In addition to his involvement with JNF and the Jewish community, Daniel B. Shure is very active in the Chicago community at-large. He was appointed by Mayor Daley to serve on the board of Chicago Sister Cities International and also chairs the Petah Tikvah Sister City Committee. He is also a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, The Executives' Club of Chicago and the Standard Club.

Mr. Shure is president and CEO of Strombecker Corporation, America's oldest toy company. He lives in Northbrook, Illinois with his two sons Raphael, 17, and Jacob, 15
