October 6, 2000– New York, NY – Jewish National Fund (JNF) has announced the appointment of Ronald M. Horvat of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, as JNF's new Northern Ohio and Michigan Regional Director. The two regions were combined to help the organization expand its reach into various communities and to widen the organization's presence in Ohio and Michigan communities.

Mr. Horvat's primary goal is to raise funds in the designated communities, focused mainly on Cleveland and Detroit. As with all of the organization, those funds are primarily being used to fight Israel's chronic water crisis in addition to JNF's other areas of activity. His secondary goal is to develop lay leadership in these areas.

Mr. Horvat has had extensive experience working with JNF as a lay leader. He served as co-chair of the JNF National Future Leadership Steering Committee from its most active chapter in Cleveland.

"We are very pleased to have Ron as our new director," said Dr. Howard J. Schwartz, JNF's local president. "Strengthening JNF's presence in Cleveland as well as in other communities while maintaining existing relationships is very important to our organization, and we believe Ron will achieve this goal for us," continued Schwartz. "He has strong ties to the community and has the knowledge and ability to help raise public awareness of JNF in the Ohio region."

Previously, Mr. Horvat was the Director of Development for the Cleveland College of Jewish Studies. He is affiliated with the Ohio Council of Fundraising Executives, the Network of Jewish Communal Professionals and the Jewish Community Federation Young Adults Initiative Steering Committee
