The Gladney Center for Adoption is hosting a Chinese New Year Celebration in honor of families who have adopted internationally. The Year of the Sheep celebration will be held Saturday, February 1, 2003 at The Gladney Center for Adoption - 6300 John Ryan Drive from 2-4 p.m. Fun and entertainment will include The Long Ho Dragon Dancers and interactive crafts. The dragon dancers display the excitement and color of the New Year and are a treat for children and adults alike.

The Chinese New Year will provide an exciting opportunity for Gladney families to come together and celebrate the rich cultural history of China. "It is important for the children to see their culture in action and to be proud of their cultural roots," says Marshall Williams, Vice President of Adoption at Gladney.

The Gladney Center for Adoption is proud of its rich cultural diversity. "This celebration is exciting because children and parents are interacting and learning about China together. This event will bring a piece of Asia to Fort Worth," says Paige McCoy Smith, Vice President of Communications.

In March 1994, The Gladney Center for Adoption's first internationally adopted child came home to the United States from Shanghai, China. Gladney facilitates adoptions in several countries around the world including Russia, Romania, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Ecuador and of course China. Gladney is quickly becoming recognized for international adoption. "The international program has become an integral component in The Gladney Center's success," says Mike McMahon, President. The Chinese New Year Celebration will honor not only Gladney's international families, but also all individuals whose lives have been touched through the miracle of adoption.
