Dragons do not only exist in fairy tales...

Fort Worth, Texas --- and neither do happy endings. You can find them both at the Fort Worth Zoo. The Gladney Center for Adoption is hosting a Chinese New Year Celebration in honor of families who have adopted internationally. The celebration will be held Sunday, February 27 from 3-5 p.m. at the Fort Worth Zoo. Festivities will include a traditional dragon dance, Lai-See (legend of the money envelopes), visits from exotic zoo animals and refreshments. The Gladney Center for Adoption is proud of its rich cultural diversity. "This celebration is exciting because it teaches children about their cultural history. China and Vietnam are two of our most popular programs. This event will bring a piece of Asia to Fort Worth," says Marshall Williams, Vice President of Adoption. In March of 1994, the Gladney Center for Adoption's first internationally adopted child came home to the U.S. from Shanghai, China. Since that time, Gladney has placed many healthy infants and toddlers with forever families. Gladney also facilitates adoptions in Vietnam, Russia, Romania, Mexico and Guatemala. Placing more than 25,000 children in this country and around the world, Gladney is quickly becoming recognized for international adoption. "The international program has become an integral component in The Gladney Center's success," says Mike McMahon, President. The Chinese New Year Celebration will honor not only Gladney's international families, but also all individuals whose lives have been touched through the miracle of adoption.
