Gift of Hope Gala 2002 Raises Money to Build Sixty Homes!Food for the Poor The Boca Raton Resort & Club was the beautiful setting for the seventh-annual fundraising gala, The Gift of Hope. On Saturday, March 23, 2002, 200 guests were treated to an elegant evening commemorating Food For The Poor's 20th Anniversay. Guests enjoyed a silent and live action, bidding on such items as art, one of a kind pottery and pewter from Nicaragua, a get away to Jamaica's Couples Resort and a Radisson Seven Seas Cruise. The evening continued with a house rally asking guests to "raise a hammer" and pledge to build a home for a family in the Caribbean. The event raised the needed funds to build 60 houses. The music of the Carl Evans Orchestra filled the room enticing everyone to dance the night away. Rexall Sundown, Inc. was the corporate honoree for the evening. Tim Richerson, the company's president was a featured speaker. Rexall Sundown, Inc. has worked with Food For The Poor in providing much need nutritional bars and drinks to the countries we serve. Through their generosity we have seen the difference these products have made in the lives of the people we serve. The event Co-chairmen were Kathy & Jerry Stevens, of Boca Raton and Judy & Jerry Yeager also of Boca Raton.
