Food For The Poor Honors Rexall Sundown Inc.Food for the Poor Food For The Poor, the largest charity in South Florida, has announced the seventh annual fundraising gala, Gift of Hope, Jubilee 2002, at the Boca Raton Resort & Club on Saturday, March 23rd. This event will commemorate the 20th anniversary of Food For The Poor with all proceeds benefiting the housing program in the Caribbean. The gift of a home, through the eyes of a child, will provide an unforgettable reminder of the real needs of the poor. Rexall Sundown Inc., one of Food For The Poor's strongest supporters, has been named the Corporate Honoree for the occasion. Rexall Sundown has assisted Food For The Poor in its efforts to serve the poor of the Caribbean and Central America through its many donations of nutritional supplements and vitamin products. This has been especially important in those countries where natural disasters have endangered the lives of the very poor, and made them vulnerable to disease. This year, in response to the World Trade Center tragedy, Food For The Poor and Rexall Sundown shipped five tractor trailer loads of protein drinks for the relief workers as an expression of gratitude. Tim Richerson, President of Rexall Sundown, will be the featured speaker for the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Yeager of Boca Raton, who have supported the efforts of Food For The Poor for many years, will be the Event Co-Chairmen. Ken Rosato, CBS-TV Channel 4 News Anchor, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening, and music will be provided by the Carl Evans Orchestra. Additional corporations who are sponsoring the event include American Airlines, Maersk Sealand, TopLine Printers, Bernuth Lines, Dennis Charley & Associates, Inc., Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery, ICS Corporation, Quadriga Art, Inc., Tecmarine Lines, Inc. and Terra Group. A magnificent silent auction, with gifts ranging from golf vacations to unique works of art will be held during the evening. A live auction, with a grand prize of a 7 night stay in France will conclude the festivities. Food For The Poor, the 4th largest international relief organization in the U.S., has surpassed over $1 billion in aid delivered, and has constructed over 16,000 homes in the Caribbean and Central America. Food For The Poor provides emergency relief assistance, food, education, housing, health care, and micro-enterprise development assistance to hundreds of thousands of the poorest of the poor in the region.
