Adventures in Odyssey Airs Special Featuring African American Heroes From the Revolutionary War

Focus on the Family will be participating in celebrating Black History Month by recognizing the many and varied contributions made by those of African descent to the well being of this country.

Focus on the Family's Adventures in Odyssey, a popular 30-minute children's radio program, has made a major contribution to this celebration through its production of "American Revelation". The special feature introduces the Odyssey audience, through the Imagination Station experiences of Marvin Washington, to heroes of the American Revolution such as Caesar Bason, Peter Salem and Salem Poor- all of which are African Americans from the Battle of Bunker Hill.

"While this story gives everyone, regardless of their background, real life heroes we can all be proud of, it also has the power to give those listeners of African descent something they long for, a true American identity with a rich heritage beginning from this country's founding," said historical consultant, Phillip Williams. "I am grateful to Focus and the Odyssey team for having undertaken this project and accomplishing such a masterful job."

This two part series will air February 15th and continue on February 22nd. Stations may air this special through satellite or FTP feed.
