World Children's Day to be held November 20

This Wednesday, November 20, thousands of McDonald's locations worldwide will highlight their local children's charities. Starting in New Zealand, World Children's Day will be ushered in around the globe. Here in Colorado Springs, numerous McDonald's restaurants will provide booths for local charities to display their services. Focus on the Family has agreed to join area McDonald's in this effort by also serving as a charity host. Debbie Worden, Focus on the Family employee and Vice-President of Ronald McDonald House Charities in Colorado Springs, has initiated a unique partnership between the two organizations.

Participants will gather in Focus on the Family's Welcome Center from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. Charities that will have booths include Hope and Home, Family Life Services, Women of Courage/Courageous Kids, Care 'N Share, the Center on Fathering and Pikes Peak Academy. Additionally, Focus on the Family ministries that will be represented include Clubhouse and Clubhouse Jr. (children's magazines), Heritage Builders (a ministry designed to help parents instill values in their kids), Ribbits! (a new animated video series for kids) and Focus' Young Families ministry.

Debbie Worden says, "Our goal is to raise awareness and support, not only for the Ronald McDonald House in southern Colorado, but to recognize our wonderful youth and children in our community, as well as local organizations that serve children. We're pleased that Focus is supporting this community effort."

Focus' Welcome Center is located on the northwest side of the campus and hosts over 200,000 visitors each year.
