Martina Mcbride And Arlo Guthrie Just Added To Sold Out Farm Aid 2001

Premier country artist Martina McBride and folk legend Arlo Guthrie have just been added to the stellar lineup for the sold out Farm Aid 2001 concert. Music fans who weren't able to buy a ticket to the benefit concert, scheduled for Sept. 29 at Verizon Wireless Music Center, in Noblesville, Ind. will still get a chance to see the show live on CMT: Country Music Television.

CMT will telecast Farm Aid 2001 live on Saturday, Sept. 29. Check your local listings for time. This is the fourth consecutive year that CMT has been the exclusive television network for the Farm Aid concert.

In addition to McBride and Guthrie, the lineup for Farm Aid 2001 includes Farm Aid founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp, along with a special solo performance by Dave Matthews. McBride, a CMT star since 1992, has scored eight No. 1 CMT videos out of an impressive catalogue of 16 music videos.

Guthrie, son of America's most famous folk artist, Woody Guthrie and a long time Farm Aid supporter, was awarded a Grammy nomination for his soundtrack album to the animated movie, This Land is Your Land. He has also made several memorable appearances on television and written an award-winning children's book, Mooses Come Walking.

"We're thrilled that Martina and Arlo will be joining us at Farm Aid this year," said Farm Aid's Executive Director Carolyn Mugar. "Their addition to the line-up of artists will make this year's concert memorable for all."

Farm Aid was founded in 1985 by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young to raise public awareness about the plight of the American family farmer and to provide assistance to those families whose livelihood depends on agriculture. In the past 16 years, Farm Aid has granted nearly $16 million to more than 100 farm organizations, churches and service agencies in 44 states. This year's event will be the 14th concert.

CMT, a 24-hour country music network, carries original programming, specials, and live concert and events, as well as a mix of videos by established country music artists and new cutting-edge acts, including world premiere exclusive videos. Founded March 6, 1983, the network, owned and operated by MTV Networks, reaches more than 49.3 million households in the United States.
