Will Serve As Deputy Director For Finance, Strategy And Operations

Environmental Defense announced today that Deborah McGinn has joined the organization as its deputy director for finance, strategy and operations.

Prior to joining Environmental Defense, McGinn served as chief financial officer and treasurer of E&Co, a nonprofit organization which facilitates the provision of clean energy services to under-served rural poor in developing nations. In addition, McGinn spent 24 years with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, serving most recently as deputy budget director and deputy treasurer, where she managed its $1 billion investment portfolio.

"We are extremely pleased to have Deborah as a part of the Environmental Defense team. She brings valuable skills and experience to the organization and will help us get the most out of our growing budget," said Environmental Defense executive director Fred Krupp.

"Deborah McGinn's years of experience with the Port Authority should help Environmental Defense work effectively with the Bloomberg and Pataki administrations to revitalize downtown Manhattan and the city's waterfront. New York City has an opportunity to rebuild both economic and environmental health," said Andy Darrell, New York regional director for Environmental Defense.

McGinn will oversee Environmental Defense 's finance, administration, and human resources operations and will also be responsible for providing staff support for strategic planning and budgeting efforts.

Environmental Defense, a leading national nonprofit organization based in New York, represents more than 300,000 members. Since 1967 we have linked science, economics, and law to create innovative, equitable, and cost-effective solutions to the most urgent environmental problems.
