National Health Council Ranks Easter Seals #1 for Allocation of Program DollarsEaster Seals (National Easter Seal Society) (Chicago, IL - January 2001) For the 21st consecutive year, Easter Seals was ranked number one among National Health Council (NHC) members for the percentage of program dollars spent on direct client services. Allocating close to 94 percent of the organization's revenue to provide services for children and adults with disabilities, Easter Seals spent more than $392 million in FY 1999 to enhance programs that help people with disabilities overcome hurdles and live with greater independence. According to the National Health Council's annual Report on Voluntary Health Agency Revenue and Expenses: A Consumer's Guide to Wise Philanthropic Giving, Easter Seals, once again, allocated more program dollars on patient services than all other member organizations nationwide and more than 4 percent more than the member organization ranked next on the list. "Through the years, there has never been any question that our clients are our first priority. The people we serve are at the heart of everything we do, which is why we are so committed to offering the highest quality services," comments James E. Williams, Jr., president and CEO. "We know what a difference our rehabilitation and support services can make in the life of a person with a disability and we intend to continue dedicating our resources to improving and expanding our services and helping people with disabilities live more independent lives." For more than 80 years, Easter Seals has been providing services that help children and adults with disabilities gain greater independence. Our primary services-medical rehabilitation, job training and employment, inclusive child care, adult day services, and camping and recreation-benefit more than 1 million individuals and their families each year at one of 400 centers nationwide.
