Lawrence J. Norvell Named President/CEO of Delta Society

Lawrence (Larry) Norvell was recently chosen as Delta Society's second President/CEO through a nationwide search, following the retirement of Linda Hines. Delta Society is an international not-for-profit organization that aims to improve human health through service and therapy animals.

Larry comes to Delta Society from United Way of the Columbia-Willamette in Portland, OR where he has been their CEO for the past 8 years. He has been a United Way professional since 1972 and held leadership positions in Columbus and Cincinnati, OH, Orlando, FL, and most recently Portland.

He holds a bachelor's degree in pre-law from the University of Cincinnati, an MBA in management from Xavier University and has completed studies on management and strategic planning at Harvard University.

A life-long lover of animals, Larry has had five dogs, three cats, five wild rabbits, two guinea pigs, five chickens, a duck, two birds, two turtles and fish over the years as pets. He is excited about being a part of an organization with such an important mission and looks forward to helping Delta grow and become more prominent throughout the world.

Delta Society is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization headquartered near Seattle, WA, with a branch office in New York City. The organization promotes improving human health through mutually beneficial relationships between people and service and therapy animals. Originally conceived in Portland, OR, in 1977, the group now boasts more than 8,000 Delta Pet Partners volunteers and 44 affiliates in the United States, as well as five foreign countries.
