Compassion International Goes To Washington: Participates In DC/LA Superconference

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 18, 2000—Compassion International music artists and speakers will share the limelight at the triennial DC/LA SuperConference on teen leadership training sponsored by Youth for Christ/USA, July 19-23, at the Washington Convention Center. More than 20,000 junior and senior high students from all over the world will attend.

Contemporary Christian music artists Michael W. Smith, Geoff Moore, LaRue, and Lost and Found will each make special presentations of their personal affiliation with Compassion International along with speakers Reggie Dabbs, Miles McPherson, Ken Davis, Lori Salierno, and Duffy Robbins.

Special guest Gerson Mejia Medina, a third-year Leadership Development Program student from Bolivia, will share his experiences as an impoverished child and how he was given life-changing opportunities through Compassion International's unique child sponsorship and university programs. In addition, some of the seven DC/LA youth participants who gave up their Thanksgiving holiday at home last year, will talk about their eye-opening trip to Bolivia to see Compassion's work firsthand.

The DC/LA conference series has been held every three years since 1985, encouraging and training more than 94,000 young people on how to effectively share their faith and help others in their schools, homes, and communities.
