City of Hope Graduate School Celebrates 10th Anniversary at Graduation Ceremony on Friday, June 11City of Hope Richard Ziman, Former Chairman of the Board, to be Honored with Doctorate Degree The City of Hope Graduate School of Biological Sciences will celebrate its 10th anniversary during commencement ceremonies on Friday, June 11 at 4 p.m. in City of Hope's Platt Conference Center, located at 1500 E. Duarte Road in Duarte. Richard S. Ziman, former chairman of the board of directors at City of Hope, will receive an honorary doctorate degree in Science along with eight students who will receive doctorate degrees in Biological Science. Ziman joined City of Hope as a member of the board of directors in 1978 and served as chairman from 1989 to 1995. He has been honored with City of Hope's most prestigious philanthropic honor – The Spirit of Life Award® – as well as the Gallery of Achievement Award and has made numerous contributions to the hospital, including an endowment for the Ziman Family Outpatient Oncology Center. "Richard and the board of directors have always been supportive of the graduate school and were integral during its first stages of formation," said John Rossi, Ph.D., dean, City of Hope Graduate School of Biological Sciences. "These invaluable contributions have helped lay a strong educational foundation for a new generation of innovative scientists." Ziman is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Los Angeles based Arden Reality, Inc., a real estate investment company. Founded in 1994, City of Hope's Graduate School of Biological Sciences offers a doctorate degree in Biological Science. Classes are taught by some of the institution's finest scientists and physicians, and the school draws an international student body from nine countries worldwide, including India, Iran, Bulgaria, Korea and Japan.
