Music & Entertainment Industry Raises $75,000 For City Of HopeCity of Hope Top "players" in the music, film, television and sports industries tested their swing at the Fifth Annual City of Hope Music & Entertainment Industry Golf Tournament. Held on May 20, at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana, Calif., the benefit helped to raise more than $75,000 for research programs and patient care at City of Hope, a leading biomedical research and treatment facility. Since its inception, the yearly event has raised more than $300,000. This year's top tournament sponsors were American Airlines and W.I. Simonson, Inc. Mercedes-Benz. First place went to the "Elizabeth Arden Team" – captained by Scott Beattie, the chairman and CEO of the company – who received plaques and Never Compromise putters during the awards ceremony at the event. "Throughout the years, many people in our industries have been patients at City of Hope and have shared stories about the amazing treatment they receive from physicians, nurses and all the staff there," said Sheryl Gold, golf committee co-chair and vice president of Business and Legal Affairs at Universal Music Group. "We are proud to support City of Hope in its efforts to improve patient therapies and to find cures for cancer and other life-threatening diseases."
