Beginning in early April, nearly 50 food retailers and dozens of national brands will band together in Southern California, Northern California, the Pacific Northwest and the Southwest to benefit research efforts at City of Hope. "Coupons of Hope," a partnership between leading retailers and manufacturers, places free-standing coupon inserts (FSI) in Sunday newspapers editions and over 5,000 retail locations for a total circulation of nine million. This year's newly redesigned "Coupons For Hope" program promises to raise millions and much needed awareness for cancer research. Already, the April 7 FYI has raised more than $1 million.

"The 'Coupons of Hope' program has proven to be very successful for all involved," says Doug Ratto, Director of Grocery for Vons/A Safeway Co. "It is an amazing opportunity for grocery retailers and manufacturers to make a difference in the war against cancer and other life-threatening diseases that is being waged by City of Hope. It also drives sales and traffic at every chain."

While the April 7 FSI reached new heights in the program's fund-raising effort before being closed to meet the print deadline, retailers and brands can still participate in the July 14 and October 6 FSIs. In addition, a special Hispanic edition "Cupones de la Esperanza," will be distributed September 8, 2002. To participate in the "Coupons of Hope" program, call Susan Sulsky or Patty Hayes at 800-544-3541, Ext. 26213.
