First Phase of Pengo's "CD for Hope Campaign" Generates More Than $7,000 For Research and Treatment of Life-Threatening Diseases

CD manufacturing company Pengo Technologies has donated more than $7,000 to City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute as the first phase of the company's year-long "CD for Hope" campaign. Through the campaign, which started in October 2001 and runs through the end of September 2002, Pengo donates a penny per CD from all U.S. sales of blank CDs to City of Hope to help fund its research and treatment programs for cancer, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening diseases.

In an effort to increase awareness for the innovative research efforts available at City of Hope, the company designed new packaging that encourages their customers to "Buy a CD and Save a Life" and includes detailed information about City of Hope.

"With our headquarters located near City of Hope, we've seen first-hand the incredible work they do – from their family-centered care to their ground-breaking medical research," said Michael Huang, CEO, Pengo Technologies. "Though CDs for Hope, we are able to use our strong international product reach to spread their message globally."

"By joining forces with companies like Pengo that have a strong presence in the U.S., Central and South America, City of Hope can dramatically increase awareness and raise funds for our lifesaving work,' said Maureen Carlson, director of Development at City of Hope. "Campaigns such as Pengo's CD for Hope will take us one step closer to tomorrow's cures."
