Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation Elects Mark A. Belnick as Director

The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (CRPF) today announced the election of Mark A. Belnick to serve on its Board of Directors. Belnick is Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Counsel of Tyco International, Ltd. His three-year term as a CRPF Director begins immediately.

Mr. Belnick, of New York and Utah, joined Tyco in 1998 after 19 years as a partner of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Mr. Belnick served in 1987 as Deputy Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Iran/Contra Committee; and in 1995, Mr. Belnick served as Chief Counsel to the NASD Select Committee which produced a major reorganization of the Nasdaq Stock Market. Since 1999, Mr. Belnick has served as Director of Cornell University's Prelaw Program, with the faculty rank of Visiting Professor of Government.

In addition to his distinguished professional career, Mr. Belnick has volunteered his time extensively on the boards of a number of philanthropic and educational institutions. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society, the Board of Visitors of Columbia Law School, the Cornell University Council, the Board of Trustees of Thomas Aquinas College, the Board of Trustees of Newark Academy and the Advisory Board of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University. Mr. Belnick received his A.B. degree, cum laude, from Cornell University and the J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar.

The Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation (CRPF), a national, nonprofit organization, encourages and supports research to develop effective treatments and a cure for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury and other central nervous system disorders. CRPF also provides quality of life grants to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities, particularly spinal cord injuries.
