The fastest-growing cosmetic company in the country, philosophy® is launching a nail enamel called the gift horse® to benefit the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation. The product is expected to be in the company's 200 stores in August.

According to the company's cofounder and CEO Cristina Carlino, all profits from the gift horse® will be donated to CRPF. In addition, the polish will come with an envelope so that customers can make a personal donation to CRPF.

Carlino said she wanted to help CRPF because she was struck by Christopher Reeve's courage and faith when she met him two years ago.

"Christopher Reeve has turned his tragedy into triumph and has helped a lot of people," Carlino explained. "His positive attitude corresponds to what my company represents."

She said that she hoped the new product, which strengthens as well as tints nails a pale pink, will increase public awareness of spinal cord injuries and the progress scientists are making toward finding treatments.

The nail enamel debuted June 12 at "First You Dream...A Tribute to Courage," a Broadway gala benefiting both CRPF and The Actor's Fund of America.

The gift horse® is the first nail enamel the four-year-old company is producing. It joins the company's makeup, fragrances, and skin care and hair products, which sport names such as "complete me," "falling in love," and "head trip." The distinctive black-and-white packaging is printed with soulful aphorisms to think positively. For example, the moisturizer called "hope in a jar" carries this message:

"Where there is faith,
there is hope;
and where there is hope,
miracles can happen."
