Childreach/Plan was thrilled to be part of the kick-off event for the world's largest music festival - Rock in Rio for a Better World! Samuel Worthington, National Executive Director of Childreach/Plan, attended the kick-off event which included a variety of international celebrities and performers, an elegant reception, youth participants representing many different parts of the world, and a grand announcement that Childreach has been selected as the official charity for the concert.

Roberto Medina, founder of Rock in Rio, is focusing the 2004 festival on creating a better world for the children. Medina sees the festival as a chance to unite people across cultures and educate them in a unique way about the effects of poverty on our world. As part of the festival, Medina and Childreach will arrange presenters and activities that focus on issues of global development.

The concert is scheduled in Lisbon from May 29 - June 6, 2004. Guns N' Roses is just one of the many acts scheduled to appear at this year's festival.

Childreach has been selected as the official charity for the concert and will benefit both from ticket sales and the opportunity for increased visibility for its programs. Rock in Rio is the largest music festival in the world. You can visit the official website at rockinrio-lisboa.sapo.pt - (please note this is in Portuguese, but an English version will soon be available).
