Plan is Bringing the Voices of Children to the UNChildreach The United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Children will provided one of the most significant opportunities for world leaders to discuss the needs of children around the globe. Plan International, a child-focused development organizations based in 59 countries has promised to bring the voices and views of children to this global forum. The Special Session will take place at the UN in New York from 19-21 September. At the time of writing, over 75 Heads of State and Government have confirmed their attendance. At the UN, Plan will provide several opportunities for delegates to hear from children: - Live video conference between participants and children in Plan communities - Participation of Plan children from Haiti, the Philippines, and Ecuador - Exhibition space including online computers for live chats with children in Plan communities - Brochures and posters expressing the views of children around the world - Roundtable discussions on children's issues including the impact of HIV/AIDS on children in Africa
