Catholic Charities USA Names New Volunteer Services CoordinatorCatholic Charities USA Khadijah A. Tribble, a former volunteer program manager with the Alabama Region of the American Red Cross, has joined Catholic Charities USA as its new Volunteer Services Coordinator. In this newly created position, Tribble will be instrumental in bringing awareness of the vital contribution made by volunteers, including senior volunteers, to Catholic Charities agencies nationwide. Volunteers are the backbone of the Catholic Charities movement. In 2000, more than 168,000 volunteers provided more than 6.5 million hours of service to Catholic Charities agencies. Tribble, an Alabama native, is a 1994 graduate of the University of Montevallo. Prior to joining Catholic Charities USA, she served as volunteer program manager for the American Red Cross, Alabama Region of Blood Services. At the Red Cross, Tribble designed and implemented a five-tier recruitment strategy to attract volunteers for its traditional, youth, corporate, and disaster arms of the unit while creating an internal staff volunteer component. Tribble also has worked as a vocational counselor and training specialist for JobPath, a program designed to bridge the gap between employers and a skilled workforce by establishing training and education to meet the needs of both sectors. She also served as a program coordinator at the Volunteer Center of Tucson, implementing the state's initiative on welfare-to-work. While she has a diverse professional portfolio, she has maintained a personal commitment to community service, whether as an appointed county commissioner or diversity chair of American Association of University Women or as a mentor in a teen parent program. Tribble hopes to combine her passion for community service and experience in volunteer management to highlight the contributions of volunteers within agencies as well as promote the profession of volunteer management.
