WASHINGTON, DC, OCTOBER 18, 2001 — To help raise awareness for October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Saks Fifth Avenue Tyson's Galleria is holding a charity shopping weekend with two percent of all proceeds to benefit the Cancer Research Foundation of America's breast cancer research and educational programs.

From October 18-21, Saks Fifth Avenue will hold their third annual charity shopping weekend as part of their Fashion Targets Breast Cancer program, a charitable initiative of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. All 63 Saks Fifth Avenue stores are participating and distributing funds to national and local breast cancer charities.

Saturday, October 20, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. will be a special shopping day with food, beverage, entertainment and the opportunity to receive a Saks Fifth Avenue Gift Card good toward future shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue.

"The Cancer Research Foundation of America, a proud member of the Board of Sponsors for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is delighted to take part in this very generous and unique event," said Carolyn Aldigé, President and Founder of the Cancer Research Foundation of America. "While many strides have been made in the prevention, early detection and treatment of breast cancer, too many women continue to die from this disease. Clearly, we still have a great deal of work to do."

Local sponsors for this year's event include NBC4, Chicken Out Rotisserie and BB&T. National sponsors for this year's event are Danskin and Continental Airlines.
