WASHINGTON, DC, October 8, 2000 - The Cancer Research Foundation of America, founders of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, joined forces with Katie Couric, Lily Tartikoff, Paul Simon, Dennis Franz, Rosie O'Donnell, and thousands of supporters on the Mall in Washington, DC, on October 8 for the first annual Rock N Race to Fight Colorectal Cancer.

The Cancer Research Foundation of America, who initiated the October 3 passage of H. Con. Res. 133, a Sense of Congress Resolution that highlights the importance of educating all Americans about colorectal cancer, provided an informational booth on colorectal cancer at the event, as well as volunteers and a team of walkers.

Rock and Race is continuing to accept pledges and donations until November 8. Money raised from the event will help support local organizations working to fight colorectal cancer, including the Cancer Research Foundation of America.
