Pragmaton and Alzheimer’s Association Sign Exclusive Deal To Provide Continuing Medical Education Programs For Healthcare ProfessionalsAlzheimer's Association The Pragmaton Office of Medical Education (POME) and the national Alzheimer's Association have formed an exclusive partnership to provide accredited continuing medical education (CME) programs for physicians and allied healthcare professionals. Recognizing that Alzheimer science is progressing rapidly, with frequent new developments in diagnosis and treatment, the Chicago-based partners say they will work to develop and increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance of physicians who treat people with Alzheimer's disease. "We will provide high quality programs that adhere to the standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)," says Dennis Hoppe, managing director of Pragmaton. "Our exclusive partnership will fuse the expertise of the Alzheimer's Association and POME to optimize outcomes for patients." CME programs developed by the partners will be distributed on a national, regional, and local basis, depending on the program. All CME programs will bear the logo of the Alzheimer's Association and have input from the Alzheimer's Association's world-class Medical and Scientific Advisory Council. "The Alzheimer's Association is the world leader in Alzheimer research and care," says Sheldon Goldberg, president and CEO of the association. "We will provide the expertise of many of the field's most esteemed medical professionals to help develop and evaluate the educational programs and help shape the future of medical education in Alzheimer's disease." Initially, CME programs will focus on Alzheimer's dementia, psychosis, depression and mood disorders, diagnosis, and healthy aging. In the future, programs may be extended to include other types of dementia (vascular) and neurological disorders (Parkinson's disease). "Our next step is to garner industry support for this partnership," says Hoppe. "We think they can play a critical role in bringing forth quality CME programs."
