Wycliffe extends sympathy to the Harrison family and all the many colleagues who, with us, have known and appreciated Dan Harrison.

Daniel Joseph Harrison entered the presence of his Lord on May 18, 2003. He died of brain cancer.

Dan joined Wycliffe in 1966 and was assigned to Papua New Guinea in 1967 as a teacher and headmaster. He worked in International Administration from 1975-1985 serving as Coordinator for Children's Education, Assistant to the Executive Vice President, Vice President of Development and Area Director for North America. In 1985 Dan took service leave from Wycliffe to become Executive Vice President for the English Language Institute. Dan joined InterVarsity in 1987 as the Associate Director of Urbana 87 and was appointed Vice President in 1989. After leaving InterVarsity in 1997 he was the Director of Middle East Media and then founded Leadership Develpment International - an organization which started a Christian University in East Asia.

Dan was the author of 3 books: Strongest in the Broken Places (InterVarsity Press, 1990), Hope for the World (IVP, 1991), and Romancing the Globe (IVP, 1993). He is survived by his wife, Shelby, four daughters: Paula Harris, Melody and Tom Hanson, Tonya and John Eisenhauer, and Holly and Paul Martinez; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM, Sunday May 25 at Christ Presbyterian Church in Madison, Wisconsin. Another service will be held in Evergreen, Colorado on Sunday, June 22, 2003.
