Burns is managing director of Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder, Inc., an international investment banking firm, and has been a practicing lawyer for more than 45 years. Powell and Harvey Schiller, chairman and CEO, YankeeNets, LLC, to serve on B&GCA's Board of Governors. For his unyielding dedication and support of B&GCA, Burns received the Herbert Hoover Humanitarian Award, the organization's highest volunteer honor, in 1997. Prior to joining Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder, Burns was senior partner in the corporate and litigation departments at Proskauer Rose LLP. He served as deputy attorney general of the United States from 1986 to1988. In this capacity, he supervised the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Prisons and Marshall's service, as well as overseeing all civil and criminal litigation of the United States. A graduate of Union College and Cornell Law School, Burns founded and led a 100-attorney firm in New York City before his deputy attorney general post.
