Dream Home sets record for ticket sales in Mississippi

Congratulations to James and Nancy Gienapp of Collierville, Tennessee, winners of the fourth Southaven, Mississippi, Dream Home giveaway. WMC-TV5 declared the couple the owners of the 4,094 square foot house on Aug. 17 during a live broadcast. Built by Reeves Williams Builders, the $200,000 home has three bedrooms, two and one-half baths and a two-car garage.

With help from northern Mississippi BancorpSouth locations, more than 7,500 tickets were sold, setting a new record for the Southaven campaign and bringing the total amount raised for St. Jude to $757,900.

"The fact that we set a record with this dream home is all the more amazing given the blow the Memphis area sustained just a few weeks before the giveaway," said board member and Dream Home chair Susan Aguillard, MD.

"Ticket sales went pretty flat during the two-week spell of power outages and storm clean-up, but soon after, people in the Mid-South came out in droves to support St. Jude. We were so taken with their generosity, especially in the wake of such chaos. We sold so many tickets during those last two weeks of the campaign that we wound up raising more than $750,000. That's pretty exciting."

Other prizes were also given away on Aug. 17 including a trip to Disney World courtesy of Northwest Airlines, a personal computer from Hewlett Packard, a set of his and hers bikes from Midtown Bicycle and a whirlpool spa tub donated by Aqua Glass. Thanks to WMC-TV5, KIX 106, BancorpSouth, Homer Skelton Ford, The Commercial Appeal, Hancock Fabrics and all of the other sponsors who helped make this campaign possible.
