Just one day after the National Basketball Association draft, the Memphis Grizzlies wasted no time introducing its newest members to the city the team calls home and the children it is helping live.

Boston College's Troy Bell and Duke University's Dahntay Jones came to Memphis on June 27 and took a tour of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The players visited with a number of patients, signing autographs and encouraging them to continue their battles against childhood catastrophic disease.

Bell and Jones also visited the construction site of the Memphis Grizzlies House on the St. Jude campus. In 2002, the Grizzlies committed $5 million toward the construction of the short-term stay facility. The facility, which is scheduled to open in January 2004, will feature 36 suites and 64 hotel-style rooms for patients of St. Jude who are staying in Memphis for a week or less.
