(Memphis, Tennessee, August 15, 2000) St. Jude patients paraded, strutted and swaggered up and down a catwalk in the Danny Thomas Pavilion for a children's fashion show sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger, U.S.A, Inc. The show, held Aug. 15, celebrated Tommy Hilfiger's "Play for Kicks" promotion that raised $225,000 for St. Jude. With a minimum purchase of $50, patrons purchased a Tommy Hilfiger soccer ball for $1, and proceeds from the soccer ball sales were donated to St. Jude. Tommy Hilfiger also matched each dollar donated to St. Jude. The promotion ran through the end of August in more than 1,000 stores nationwide.

Forty-five cancer patients and their siblings sauntered to a thumping soundtrack and modeled some of Tommy Hilfiger's Fall 2000 Children's Collection. As an added bonus, patients were able to keep the clothes they modeled. Todd Howard, president of the Tommy Hilfiger Children's and Juniors division, and Saskia Webber, a member of the U.S. Women's World Cup Championship team, attended the show to present the check. The patients of St. Jude autographed a Tommy Hilfiger soccer ball and presented it to Webber. "This is going next to my World Cup trophy," Webber told the children. Howard and the Hilfiger employees were presented with plaques featuring artwork by St. Jude patients and pictures from the Hilfiger photo shoot.
