Family Builders of Catawba County benefited today from the delivery of a semi-tractor trailer truck of food from international hunger relief organization Feed The Children. The delivery is sponsored by Kathy Ireland, CEO/Chief Designer for Kathy Ireland Worldwide, who in addition to being one of America's most embraced home and fashion designers is described by the Associated Press as a "best friend to working mothers."

Kathy arranged today's truck delivery in honor of her friends John and Marilyn Moretz of Newton, North Carolina. John Moretz is president and CEO of Newton-based Moretz, Inc, who Kathy is partnered with in her popular apparel and home collections. Kathy and the Moretz family designate gifts to Feed The Children and other non-profit organizations as their Christmas gifts each year. The Moretz family chose Catawba County's foster children and families to be the recipients of the generous gift from Kathy.

This is Kathy's seventh year in partnership with Feed The Children to help those struggling with hunger. Each year she works with Feed The Children and underwrites the distribution of 170,000 pounds of food, clothing and toys to families in need across the nation where hunger is most acute. "Kathy has generously contributed to Feed The Children's efforts to meet the needs of hungry children here in North Carolina and throughout the United States," said Feed The Children's president, Larry Jones. "We sincerely thank her for her commitment in the fight against hunger."

"Our family has been blessed by our son, our daughter and we're expecting our third child," explains Kathy, CEO and chief designer, Kathy Ireland Worldwide. "We're honored to share the blessings our family enjoys and grateful to the women of America whose support of our brand makes this gift possible. Giving back is a year-round need that we acknowledge and share back with families today. The Moretz family and our team thank Feed The Children for helping us today to reach out to those in need, and for their continued dedication and amazing work on behalf of families."

On-site to help with the unloading and distribution of the food today were volunteers from the National Guard Armory, Youth of the NAACP, Morning Star First Methodist Church and DSS.
