Girls and Boys Town Children and Families Raise Thousands for Developmentally DisabledGirls and Boys Town With a chill in the air, more than 500 of Girls and Boys Town kids, ages 10-18, and their families teamed up this weekend on Honey Sunday to raise more than $13,000 for The Ollie Webb Center. One bear at a time, they exceeded last year's sales by more than $2,000. "Girls and Boys Town accounts for more than one-third of our volunteers and about 30 percent of sales every year," said Jennifer Varner of Ollie Webb Center. Organizations across the metro area have joined together for more than 30 years to participate in this fundraiser, which benefits individuals with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities served by The Ollie Webb Center and Madonna School for Exceptional Children. Girls and Boys Town youth and families participate in Honey Sunday each year. It is one of many service activities that enable our kids to give back and help build a strong community.
