Families Feeding AmericaTM Contest Kicks Off to Reward Families Who Contribute to Hunger Relief Efforts - Visits to Dannon.com to Trigger Financial Donation To America's Second Harvest

In an effort to combat childhood hunger in the summer months, the Dannon Company and America's Second Harvest (A2H), the nation's largest organization of emergency food providers, are partnering for the second straight year to help bring awareness to, and educate the public about the growing problem of childhood hunger. Through the Families Feeding America Contest, they will identify and reward families who are helping to strike out hunger in America; and help raise funds and encourage volunteerism for hunger-relief projects.

"It's hard to believe that more than 30 million people don't know where their next meal is coming from," said Thomas Kunz, President and CEO for The Dannon Company. "We at The Dannon Company are pleased and proud to do our part in helping to fight hunger with A2H. Families Feeding America is an extension of that commitment."

The Families Feeding AmericaTM(FFA) contest, in its second year, identifies and honors Americans who help alleviate the nation's hunger problem by volunteering at their local food pantries, soup kitchens and hunger-relief agencies. To enter, families, friends, loved-ones and colleagues can submit an essay that is 500 words or fewer describing their commitment to helping feed the needy. The grand prize will include $10,000 for the winning family to donate to the hunger-relief organization to which they volunteer, as well as $1,000 in free groceries from their local supermarket for themselves. Four runners-up will each receive $1,000 to be donated in their names to the food banks of their choice, and $1,000 in free groceries.

HOW TO HELP

During the month of June, every visit to www.dannon.com and click on the Strike Out Hunger/FFA logo will trigger a $1 donation or the equivalent of 21 meals* for A2H with a goal of reaching $100,000 or 2.1 million meals. In addition, they will find further information about how they can enter FFA, tips on how they can help fight hunger, and information on hunger relief volunteer projects in their own communities.

"Hunger doesn't take a summer vacation. In fact, summer can be a very scary time for many children who don't know if they will be going to bed hungry," said Robert Forney, President and CEO, America's Second Harvest. "We believe many more millions of children go hungry because their parents are unaware of or choose not to use nearby hunger relief facilities. It's why education programs, such as Dannon's Strike Out Hunger and Families Feeding America, are so important to the cause."

ABOUT ENTERING FFA
