Chicago Law Partner Appointed To Key Hunger-Relief PostAmerica's Second Harvest America's Second Harvest today announced that William A. Rudnick assumes the position of chair of its board of directors effective May 15. Rudnick, a member of the America's Second Harvest board since 1999 and a partner at the law firm of Piper Rudnick, has been involved in hunger-relief since 1988, when he first volunteered for the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD), one of the largest affiliate food banks of America's Second Harvest. "Having worked with Bill on hunger-relief efforts for years, I'm delighted that he's willing to take on the national leadership of our board. His vision and leadership will move us toward our goal of creating a hunger free America," said Robert H. Forney, President and CEO of America's Second Harvest. Forney joined America's Second Harvest a year ago, after serving as the Chicago Stock Exchange President and CEO. He also worked with Rudnick during the years they served together on the board of directors of the GCFD. Rudnick's history with fighting hunger began in 1988 when, while a student at Northwestern University School of Law, he helped create the annual Real Estate Awards Dinner to benefit the GCFD. This event continues to flourish today, raising $600,000 in contributions to the food bank this year. He joined the GCFD board in 1994, serving as vice chair from 1995 to 1997 and chair from 1997 to 1999, before moving to America's Second Harvest. "Bill's initiative has been responsible for forming and growing Piper Rudnick's relationships with America's Second Harvest, GCFD and other food banks and food rescue organizations across the country," said Lee I. Miller, co-chair of Piper Rudnick. "I am confident he will demonstrate those same leadership skills in this new position, to the benefit of families and communities across the United States."
