AmeriCares sending relief supplies to Kentucky flood victimsAmeriCares Foundation AmeriCares is assembling a truckload of emergency supplies for Kentucky where thousands of people have been driven from their homes by the worst flooding in 25 years. The shipment—raingear, work gloves and cleaning supplies—is consigned to the Corbin, KY warehouse of the Christian Appalachia Project, active in 13 states and an AmeriCares partner since 1991. The National Guard is active in the rescue and cleanup. Seventeen Kentucky counties have declared emergencies and the floodwaters have also displaced residents of parts of Tennessee and Virginia. AmeriCares, observing its 20th anniversary this year, is a nonprofit humanitarian and disaster relief organization based in New Canaan, CT. In providing medical and emergency aid to 137 countries worldwide, AmeriCares has in the past assisted in flood relief in Appalachia and the U.S. Northeast.
