AmeriCares, the international disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization, announced today that Duncan Edwards has been named President and Chief Operating Officer.

"I am pleased to have Duncan join AmeriCares as President and Chief Operating Officer," stated Robert C. Macauley, Chairman and Founder. "Duncan brings many years of leadership, administration and development skills to our organization."

Mr. Edwards comes to AmeriCares from the Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut, where he has served as a Teacher/Administrator and Headmaster for the past twenty-four years.

In his role at AmeriCares, Mr. Edwards will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations at AmeriCares, as well as Programs, Communications and Development.

In viewing his new role, Mr. Edwards stated: "I am truly humbled by the responsibility but equally excited by the opportunity that it presents. Although the task itself is daunting, AmeriCares is blessed with a purpose that is noble, a need that will prove boundless and a group of people within the organization that are as talented as they are committed. I look forward to the challenge of ensuring that Mr. Macauley's dream remains alive and well."

Mr. Edwards holds an A.B. from Princeton University and a Masters Degree from Columbia University, and currently serves as a Director for the Greenwich Bank and Trust, and is on the Advisory Council of the Greenwich YMCA, The Stanwich School and the Greenwich Teen Center.

Mr. Edwards is a long-time resident of Greenwich, Connecticut, where he still resides with his wife, Sally Gage Edwards and his two children, Duncan MacGregor and Timothy Gage.

AmeriCares is the nonprofit international disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization, which provides immediate response to emergency medical needs—and supports long-term healthcare programs—for people around the world, irrespective of race, creed or political persuasion. Since its inception in 1982, AmeriCares has delivered over $2.9 billion in aid to 137 nations worldwide.
