AmeriCares Responding to Attack on U.S.AmeriCares Foundation September 11, 2001 (New Canaan, CT) – AmeriCares, the international disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization, is currently staging medical teams and assembling disaster relief modules to assist in the aftermath of the horrific attack on the United States. The relief modules which consist of bandages, gauze, tape, disinfectants, casting materials and other essential medical products are currently on their way to Sikorsky Airport. Once at Sikorsky, the relief module and an AmeriCares medical relief team will load a blackhawk helicopter and be transported to a landing pad on the east side of Manhattan. A second disaster relief module and an additional AmeriCares medical team will depart Danbury Hospital, also via helicopter in the coming hour. "AmeriCares has been at the front lines battling manmade and natural disasters for nearly twenty years and I have never seen anything of this magnitude," stated Andrew Hannah, AmeriCares' Vice Chairman. "AmeriCares will do everything in our power to assist the victims of the heinous attack." AmeriCares has also created a fund to aid the victims of this attack on the United States.
