AmeriCares Schedules Airlift for Earthquake Victims in IndiaAmeriCares Foundation Cargo Jet to Depart Montreal, Canada at 2 pm Thursday, February 1 WHO: AmeriCares, the international and domestic disaster relief organization, to airlift vital relief and humanitarian supplies to Ahmedabad, India. WHAT: An AmeriCares cargo jet filled with 75,000 pounds of relief supplies including 1,000 tents, blankets, plastic sheeting, face masks, blankets, casting and orthopedic supplies, disinfectants, water purification tablets, generators as well as medical supplies, nutritional supplements and other emergency materials for the victims of the devastating earthquake. WHERE: The AmeriCares cargo will arrive in Ahmedabad, India where it will be loaded onto trucks and driven to hospitals, clinics and shelter facilities in the region providing assistance to the earthquake victims. AmeriCares disaster relief experts and medical team will be working with the Missionaries of Charity to ensure proper and efficient distribution. WHEN: Relief cargo will be loaded at the AmeriCares warehouse in Milford, CT on Wednesday morning at 11am. The cargo will then be trucked to Montreal where it will be loaded onto a B-707 and flown to Ahmedabad. The B-707 will depart Montreal at 2pm Thursday and will arrive in Ahmedabad on Friday afternoon local time.
