AmeriCares Airlifts Medical Relief to the Middle EastAmeriCares Foundation Cargo Jet to Depart Amsterdam 11:30 am Wednesday, November 1 WHO: AmeriCares, the international and domestic disaster relief organization, is airlifting vital medical supplies, such as essential medicines, drugs, food and nutritional supplements to Beirut, Lebanon. WHAT: An AmeriCares cargo jet filled with 60,000 pounds of vital medical supplies will depart for Beirut, Lebanon in an effort to assist the country as it rebuilds itself after nearly 20 years of conflict and civil war. WHERE: The AmeriCares cargo will arrive in Beirut, Lebanon where it will be loaded onto trucks and driven to hospitals and clinics to assist with the increased demand already placed on an already tenuous healthcare system. AmeriCares personnel will be working with the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the Lebanese Red Crescent Society and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to ensure proper and efficient distribution. WHEN: The AmeriCares Cargo jet will depart Wednesday, November 1 at 11:30 am from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The cargo jet is scheduled to arrive in Beirut, Lebanon 4:30 pm Lebanese time. AmeriCares will be delivering an additional 40,000 pounds of humanitarian aid to Tel Aviv, Israel, next week. The current crisis has placed a strain on the nation's infrastructure, thus severely taxing its medical resources. AmeriCares hopes these medical missions will help bolster the regions' healthcare system during this difficult period.
